TAG RUGBY TOURNAMENT

ERYRI'S FIRST TOURNAMENT

HOSTED BY BANGOR RUGBY CLUB APRIL 28th 2004

The tournament was organised by the HND students of Coleg Menai Sports Department. The following junior schools from Anglesey and Gwynedd participated.

                Glanadda  (two teams)

                Tregarth

                Faenol (3 teams)

                Cae Top

                Hendre

                Valley

                Y Gelli

                Llanfach

The  rain did not spoil a great time as both boys and girls competed most keenly in this non contact sport in which players pull tags from the ball carrier instead of tackling them. The winners were Valley beating Y Gelli 2 - 1 in the final. Ysgol Cae Top took 3rd place. Girl of the tournament was Bethany Williams and Boy of the tournament was Dafydd Williams. Player of the tournament was Thomas Hall.

Welsh international and Scarlets players Mark Jones and Dafydd Jones presented  the trophies. The event was part of the sports academy scheme being set up by Coleg Menai with Llanelli Scarlets.
