UNDER 9's TOURNAMENT SATURDAY APRIL 19th 2003

Bangor Rugby Club hosted an under 9's tournament at their Cae Millter headquarters on Saturday. Teams from Ireland and England competed with local teams in front of a large crowd of parents and other supporters who made it a day to remember for all the youngsters. The English team from Sandal came out on top in a thrilling final against St. Mary's Sharks from Dublin, beating them by four tries to one. The plate final was won by Nant Conwy with Rhyl the runners up. The most exciting match of the tournament was between Mold and St. Mary's Sharks in the semi final with the game being decided by a golden try after a long period of extra time in which neither team was willing to concede defeat.

Trophies and medals were handed out by chairman Dave Dunn and an exchange of  a plaque and ties took place between St. Mary's and Bangor. The award for fair play went to St. Mary's Eagles. The visitors thanked Bangor for the great day and in particular the main organiser of the event Steve MacVicar. It is to be hoped that  it will be repeated next year.
